How to reset your Apple Watch from iPhone

There are many reasons you may want to reset Apple watch. Whether it's to sell it on, to fix an issue or you just want to refresh your device and free up some internal memory, it's always the same process to reset it.

Apple has made it a reasonably simple route to reboot your wristwear and start again from the beginning. We've written this guide to talk you through the exact steps and highlight any issues you may come across along the way.

Be warned though, if you complete the instructions below you will be deleting all of your data on your watch. Apple will make a backup of your Watch before you reset apple watch, but you may want to do it manually beforehand just to be safe.

How to unpair and reset your Apple Watch from iPhone

Disconnect your devices

1.Keep your Apple Watch and iPhone close together as you unpair them.

2.Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

3.Go to the My Watch tab and tap your watch at the top of the screen.

4.Tap the info button the info icon next to the watch that you want to unpair.

5.Tap Unpair Apple Watch.

6.For GPS + Cellular models, choose to keep or remove your cellular plan.
If you want to pair your Apple Watch and iPhone again, keep your plan.
•If you don't want to pair your Apple Watch and iPhone again, remove your plan. If you aren't going to pair with a different watch or iPhone, you might need to contact your carrier to cancel your cellular subscription.

7.Tap again to confirm. You might need to enter your Apple ID password to disable Activation Lock. Before erasing all content and settings on your Apple Watch, your iPhone creates a new backup of your Apple Watch. You can use the backup to restore a new Apple Watch. After your Apple Watch unpairs, you'll see the Start Pairing message.

8.Use these steps to set up your Apple Watch again.

How to erase your Apple Watch data

If you don't have your iPhone and can't unpair, you can still erase all content and settings on your Apple Watch:

1.On your Apple Watch, tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.

2.For GPS + Cellular models, choose to keep or remove your cellular plan.
If you want to pair your Apple Watch and iPhone again, keep your plan.
If you don't want to pair your Apple Watch and iPhone again, remove your plan. If you aren't going to pair with a different watch or iPhone, you might need to contact your carrier to cancel your cellular subscription.

3.Tap Erase All to confirm. This resets your Apple Watch to the factory settings.
